![]() ![]() If you don't stay for that gorgeous hell of a butler (okay, I'll stop), you'll definitely appreciate the dark aura, fantastic characters, and the action. The description may seem a bit yaoi-ish, but don't be deterred if you're not into that. I'd imagine that most readers don't read Kuroshitsuji to drool over Sebastian. I regret ever reading it as this event today shocked me to that extend. The art has improved since the first volume but at all times it was very beautiful and detailed. There's a lot of fanservice on that aspect. This mangaka used to draw yaoi before Kuroshitsuji and there are many BL elements throughout the series that lighten up the heavy storyline. A message that seems to be present in all arcs is that injustice exists in the world, evil minds have the means to execute anything they've set their minds on, however, other people are not prepared for it and they always fail to see it and that's the reason tragedy ensues and they suffer. The story is built on the strong bond between a master and his servant, an all-time japanese favourite theme, that face many difficult challenges together, through thick and thin. ![]() ![]() This mangaka follows religiously this pattern. Since this character was my all-time-favourite from the series, I hope the Undertaker ressurects him or something and somehow something miraculously (a dream, a wonder) happens and he's still alive and well.Īs for the review, whenever fans complain about the manga being boring or repetitive (a recurrent theme in the manga), another character suffers or dies and the fans are pleased once more. This has never happened to me I may cry or feel upset about the developments in a series, book, etc, but nothing affected me this much. When I saw him dead, I am embarassed to say it but I got dizzy and felt twice the urge to throw up. Today, I've read ch 128 and it was beyond any doubt confirmed that a kind, fair and lovable character sacrifized himself to protect someone dear to him. First, I'll make a short commentary and then I'll give my 2 cents about this manga. ![]() It's been many years since I first read Kuroshitsuji but I never felt the need to write a review about it. Last updated on December 24th, 2020, 7:24am I personally find that Toboso makes most of her female characters different degrees of insufferable, especially Nina Hopkins, Lizzy, & the little girl who followed Ciel from Germany. This is one of those series that isn't afraid to kil off important recurring characters, but she does it so seldom that you don't see it coming.Įveryone is going to have seconday characters they despise & adore. But sometimes it only seems out of place but did actually historupibpcallybexistvat the time, like the WW1 tank & the Hazmat suits.īut she also has some pure gold story archs, like the reimagining of the Titanic incident as a zombie outbreak, or her spin on Harry Potter. Then there was the time she had a few male chaeacters form an idol boyband instead of a more time-appropriate barbershop quartet. I remember this one chapter that involved a NASA-era super computer. She really takes liberties with that historical accuracy though. She has given all the female characters breast reductions, less revealing historically accurate swimsuits, & Mei-Ran is revealed to be canonically indestinguishable from a boy without makeup. For the girls, the well of gay shipteasing has run dry. So some time ago, Toboso just completely stopped doing fanservice. Hard to believe a woman who used to do nothing but tragic shotacon oneshot mangas could make such a compelling Shounen horror-comedy series. ![]()
